The third annual Justice Summit was recently held in Central Florida and attended by law enforcement officials, court administrators, judges and attorneys, as well as various professionals that were looking to address concerns with Florida's criminal justice system and post-release assistance. The focus of this coalition was to bring to light the struggles that Florida's inmates face upon release and establish safe houses, drug prevention programs, mental health screenings and even provide assistance to prevent sex trafficking and abuse.
Numerous topics were discussed including alternatives to jailing individuals with mental complications and treating at-risk youths before they end up back in jail. Over 100 various legal experts from across Florida attended the summit and met with for and non-profit organizations, as well as faith-based grounds, all focused on providing services to inmates that would allow them to better themselves after release and help keep Florida's communities safe.
